FAQ

FAQ

What is nōht made of?

49% seaweed-enriched cellulose, 44% bio-nylon from castor beans, 7% bio-elastane from corn.

Is there any plastic in it?

There is no petroleum-derived polyester, nylon or spandex. The bio-nylon belongs to the same polymer family as nylon, but it is made from castor beans, not oil.

Does it shed microfibres?

Every textile sheds some fibres in the wash, and ours will too. They come from plants, not petroleum.

Has it been tested?

Yes. Finished garments in Black and Natural were tested for PFAS, BPA, phthalates, heavy metals, formaldehyde and azo dyes, and passed every test (Qualspec CS26070796). Dermatologically tested, rated Excellent. The finished fabric was also tested for antioxidant activity (TEAC assay, OMPG). The full results are on the Material page.

I have sensitive skin. Will it suit me?

It is dermatologically tested and rated Excellent. If you have a skin condition, check with your doctor first.

Does it biodegrade?

The cellulose fibres degrade in soil in approximately 41 days, in independent laboratory testing by TITK at fibre level. The bio-nylon and bio-elastane are new fibres, and their biodegradation testing is only now beginning.

How should I wash it?

Cold, with a mild detergent. No bleach or fabric softener. Air dry; tumble dry low only if you need to.

How does it fit?

Fits true to size to slightly more snug. If you're between sizes, size up for comfort. There's plenty of stretch and compression to feel supported a size up. See the size guide.

Where is it made?

Fibres are sourced in Europe and Asia. The garments are made in China by a partner we work closely with. We design in Australia.

Why don't you go on sale?

We would rather offer nōht at a competitive price all year than set a high price with room to mark it down. Conventional activewear is made from petroleum-based synthetics like polyester, which are cheap to produce, so even heavily discounted prices leave the brand plenty of room. Our costs sit elsewhere: plant-based fibres, two years of research and development, independent certification and laboratory testing. We would rather give you that transparency, and the same fair price year round.

How do I say it?

"Nought."
